(Non)Aligned Movements is a project that aims to promote the creative and collaborative potential of contemporary dance in the Western Balkans. The project strengthens the social impact of contemporary dance in the Balkans by increasing capacity for agency and collaboration, supporting the promotion of heritage and integrating it into future discourses and cultural practices.
NAM aims to share the experience of self-organization, horizontal organizational structure, balance and openness with all like-minded actors in dance and performing arts. As part of the project, a large archive project, the Balkan Open Digital Dance Archive, was initiated to present contemporary dance as an important cultural heritage of the region. It will be launched in November 2024 as part of an exhibition. In addition, the network will be strengthened by residency programs in the region, which will also strengthen the connection to the regional festivals. The regular summits took place in Belgrade in 2021, in Struga in 2022 and in Berlin in 2023, where a public and interactive format, the summer school "To Keep in Touch", was also held.
